ALPACA - NATURALLY ENGINEERED PERFORMANCE
100% ALPACA T-SHIRT VAELTAJA
The Vaeltaja T-Shirt is a one-bag essential for summer hikes, far-flung travel and everyday movement.
Made from 100% Royal Alpaca, it’s softer, lighter and more breathable than merino – regulating temperature naturally and staying fresh day after day. It wicks moisture fast, resists odours and feels smooth even on bare skin.
With a relaxed cut, clean neckline and no-fuss finish, it slips into any outfit – trail to terrace, sunrise to last train. When weight matters and comfort counts, this is the one you pack.
FAQs
IS ALPACA BETTER THAN MERINO WOOL?
In nearly every core function of wool, alpaca performs better. It contains more microscopic air pockets within each fiber, which improves insulation without added weight. Compared to merino, alpaca wicks moisture more efficiently and absorbs significantly less water, meaning it dries faster and keeps you feeling dry during activity. It also naturally resists odours and is hypoallergenic – alpaca contains no lanolin, so it’s safe for those with wool sensitivity or allergies.
WILL MY ALPACA T-SHIRT SHRINK WHEN WASHED?
Not if you treat it right. Alpaca fiber is naturally resilient, but like all wool, it can shrink if exposed to high heat or aggressive washing.
To avoid this:
Wash your t-shirt on a gentle wool cycle at 30 °C with a mild wool detergent. Never use hot water, tumble dryers or high spin cycles. Lay it flat to dry, and your hoodie will keep its shape and softness for years.
IS IT ITCHY LIKE OTHER WOOL?
Alpaca fiber has a smoother surface than sheep’s wool, so it won’t irritate your skin – even without chemical softening. It’s naturally hypoallergenic, suitable for sensitive skin and doesn’t require a base layer underneath.
Note: Right after unboxing, the hoodie might feel slightly coarse to some – this is normal with high-quality, untreated alpaca. As you wear it, the fibers relax, becoming noticeably softer over time. In fact, alpaca improves with age: it molds to your movements, softens with wear, and retains its structure for years. A gentle hand wash or a wool cycle can help ease the break-in period.
HOW DO I WASH ALPACA T-SHIRT?
You rarely need to. Alpaca naturally resists odours, so we recommend simply airing out your t-shirt between wears. Only machine wash when needed – for example, if you spill something.
When you do wash: use a gentle cycle at 30 °C with a wool detergent. Lay flat to air dry. Avoid tumble drying and high spin cycles, which can damage the delicate fibers.
CAN I WEAR THE VAELTAJA HOODIE YEAR-ROUND?
Absolutely. The Vaeltaja Hoodie is built for all four seasons. It keeps you warm on cold mornings, breathes during summer hikes, and adapts to changing weather. Worn alone or layered under a shell, it transitions effortlessly from crisp autumn days to deep winter and spring adventures.
